HMLRC Board Members

Hungry Mother Lutheran Retreat Center (HMLRC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that is managed by a board of 9 members that meet on a quarterly basis to see to the well-being of the facility.

One of the members is a representative of the Virginia Synod. Although we are autonomous, we are associated to the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). The position is a standing one that allows us to maintain close ties with Synod.

All board members have a voice and a vote. The terms are a 3-year commitment with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms per member (with the exception of the Virginia Synod representative whose term is on-going). Board members must be a member of one of the churches in the Highlands Conference. As a result of this, every year (in October), we elect 3 new members (as 3 members will be reaching the end of their term and we need to fill those positions). In the event of a resignation, positions are filled by appointment and agreement of the person filling the position. Board offices include; President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer each elected from the board members that are voted in for a 1-year term serving the calendar year.
